the grouping
i can find no issues. i believe these have been only stored since purchased. i do not know the year, but have seen some reference to these being from around 2000. you can read a piece about the artist written in 2001 below (and in last image). these are designed by artist connie connally for neiman marcus. they depict (in order photographed): a jack russell terrier; a black labrador and beagle mix/baegle; a yorkshire terrier/yorkie and an irish setter. they already have the perfect hardware for them to be hung as a group on a wall.

creating «art and selling yourself» is the title of a talk with a question and answer follow-up by january guest, connie connally of dallas. connie will address topics such as:
how do i market what i do and how do i price my work?
how do i get hung?
how do i get into the galley that i want to be in?
do i need a rep?
when should i become a full-time artist?
basic pointers from connie are to truly focus on your art, get your work seen by the right people and have a business plan.
ms. connally graduated magna cum laude with a bfa from wichita state university. she further studied at the school of visual arts, ny, as well as in paris and st. marteen. very recent exhibitions include solo shows at craighead-creen , anasazi and southwest art galleries in dallas. group shows this year include such venues as stage gallery, ny, davis gallery, austin, tx, tcu, fort worth, tx, san diego art institute, ca, mckinney avenue contemporary, dallas and visual arts alliance, houston, tx.
like many artists, connie worked in a commercial arena for 20 years, doing ad illustration. the pivotal moments that lay a path to changes in life can appear to hold less than hallmark potential: a painting of her own cocker spaniel, ebony, inspired others to inquire about commissions of their pets. it soon became clear that she had happened upon an ideal outlet for her own fine art interests. within six months she was able to leave commercial work and turn to painting commissions full time.
connie now paints colorful, character-charged portraits of pets. her whimsical rendering showcases each client's loved animal friend. connie uses on-site observation of a pet's nature and habits, as well as information learned from family interviews. some group portraits include family along with the pet/subject. these are portrayals of relationships and personalities. style, color, line and even objects often yield to connie's playful interpretive expression of the unique characteristics of her subjects.
though she paints from photos in her dallas studio, connie gets involved with her subjects during introductory visits to the home. she falls in love with each new pet, and remembers every one that she has painted.
among connie's memorable experiences, when loretta switt chaired the dallas spca fur ball benefit, connie's donated portrait of loretta with her cat buckets, was quite an item in the event's auction. purchased for donation, it now hangs at the spca main office.
a commission of note came from the american kennel club. after the oklahoma city bombing, she was asked to create a piece to commemorate the tireless efforts of rescue dogs and their handlers.
«heroes in the rubble«» is a visual ballad depicting the harrowing duty performed by these rescue partnerships. heart wrenching interview and photographic research prepared connie to represent the experience of recovering that atrocity's victims, some alive, most not, in a grueling race against time and unimaginable conditions.
connie lists these current affiliations: craighead-green gallery, dallas, davis gallery, austin, erl originals, raleigh, nc and the village contemporary calleries, maui, hawaii.
