5 Federal Glass "Mopey Dog" Candy Containers c. 1940's
This set of five, pressed, clear glass pups are just waiting to become part of your glass collection or unique art project. Made by Federal Glass of Columbus, Ohio in the 1940’s, this figural pup was called “Mopey Dog”, and was filled with very tiny multi-colored candy balls. The base was made of cardboard, which was wax-sealed to the bottom. Once the cardboard was removed and the candy gobbled up, they doubled as a child’s toy or decoration. Each of these five are in excellent condition and sit 2 3/4″ tall x 2 1/2″ long x 2″ wide. They have been together for a very long time, so we are selling them as a set only. There is no limit to the ways you can creatively use these adorable pups. You can refill them, reseal them and use them as party favors or stocking stuffers. You can place them in planters, use them as glass covers over tiny light bulbs and make a unique centerpiece, or simply line them in a row as a decorative accent in a bathroom, nursery, or kitchen.
