    Description

    Here's the little I know.
    1.  These earrings have a little sterling silver around the edges that you see in the first picture, but the entire back of the earrings is NOT sterling.
    2. They are vintage.
    3. They are hand painted.
    4. They are three-quarters inch in diameter and a quarter inch in depth, not counting the clip.
    5. The clip is sturdy: it holds firmly and opens easily.  It is slightly smaller than clips on other earrings made in the U.S.
I do NOT know country of origin, when or where they were obtained, what the material under the paint is, or whether the paint was applied to the back of the of the material or the front.
The information that I used in the heading of this listing came from similar items listed on eBay and may not relate in any way to the truth of this actual item.  It's clear that they were hand-painted, because there are many differences between the figures in one earring and those in the other earring. Please, if you have had experience with this kind of item, write your information about the earrings in the questions for the seller, so that others will learn more about this kind of art.
They are interesting and unusual and, I think, would appeal to a traveler or artist.
WHAT I LEARNED:  When I saw the other eBay listings for similar items, I was very proud of these, thinking that they were painted more carefully than the others.  I learned that when the photographs are enlarged enough,  all paintings look very roughly done.  I also learned that masks really help in photographing small pieces of jewelry because the folds of the mask help to hold the items to show different angles.
These earrings came from the estate of the mother of a fellow parishioner, who gave me about 50 pounds [two and a half large boxes often used to pack reams of paper].  My job is to clean, repair, price, display and sell donated jewelry.  Normally I set up tables at our Christmas Bazaar, but these pieces need the attention of a collector, I think.  This and a few other pieces I'm listing this week will help my church donate to worthy charities in the state of Delaware; I promise that I will not take the money myself for a trip out of town.
My policy is to set a price for shipping; if you overpay, I will return any dollar overcharged; if you underpay, I (NOTE: not my church),
    I
myself will pay for the overage.  My house is smoke- and pet-free; however, I do not know whether the original owner smoked or had pets.
Of course I will combine shipping; my plan is to send sold jewelry in those small, USPS priority boxes.
Thanks for shopping with me.  I have listed two Weiss bracelets and some other NON-Weiss rhinestone jewelry that is ahh-mazing.
