    Description

Selling a collection of antique turn of the century rings, some examples seen in the group photo so please reach out if anything catches your eye. Many more coming soon - thanks for stopping by!  : )
    ABOUT:
Vintage to antique brass ring with interesting sculpted details holding an iridescent glass sphere stone in the center. I acquired this in France, it clearly has some age to it but I'm not sure exactly when it was made.  Despite being brass instead of gold, the detail on the design is sturdy, 3D and abstract.  Very unique and artistic piece, appears to have been hand cast / formed by an artist.  Has a nice warm antique brass patina with a very eye catching iridescent reflective glass crystal ball.
The iridescent sphere has a closed back mount so it may be foil backed?  When you look at it from the side it is clear but pulls in the image from the other side. When you look down at it, it reflects your face back to you but upside down, surrounded by colors of pink, purple, yellow and blue.  I'm not sure how they got the color treatment into the stone, if it is colored like a marble, or has an iridescent foil back that it is reflecting?
    SIZE & MEASUREMENTS:
Size 6 1/4 on my ring mandrel with an open back so probably fits larger.  Despite the open shank on the back, I do not think it is adjustable as it is very thick and sturdy, it does not seem to flex when I put pressure on it.
    HALLMARKS:
No hallmarks, the crystal ball is glass with some sort of interesting iridescent treatment.
    IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Nice patina to the brass. Although it does have some spots of discoloration from age and some verdigris in the creases.  I am not sure if this can be polished so I didn't want to risk harming the age appropriate patina.   The stone has pretty coloring but has quite a few scuffs and scratches on the raised surface from it rubbing against things while it was worn.  It is still perfectly round so it isn't a deep chip or shard missing, more like little nicks and dots almost like pitting to the surface, which somewhat blurs the reflection when you look inside it.  Some surface wear and scratches to the band from wear over the years but still nicely shaped with no deep dings.  Disclaimer - no guarantees that it won't mark your finger a color over time (haha) as it is brass. I'm not selling this very well am I? : )  Just being honest.  Still beautifully shaped with an interesting design, a one of a kind unique piece.  Overall still presents nicely, but due to age - please note this is not a mint condition item.
Thanks so much for looking at my shop!
