    Description

Micro Mosaic Dove & Flower Souvenir Bangle Bracelets, Grand Tour, Italy....For your consideration is this beautiful antique Victorian micro mosaic bangle bracelet dating from the mid 1800s. You don't find this type of bracelet very often, especially in such fine condition.....And decorated on both sides....many times ROMA is on the back of the bracelet and there is no intricate daisy design like this fab bracelet.....  I believe the bracelet  gold plated or rolled gold.  The clasps is in great working order. It measures 2 and 1/2 inches across measuring from the outside....My wrist is a 6 and 1/2 and it fits me well....I would say it would fit a small to medium size wrist... Please note the inside fit will be slightly smaller than the outside measurements. The condition is EXCELLENT with NO tesserae loss.
A brief history of micro mosaic jewelry:Wearing micro mosaic jewelry became popular during the Grand Tour period (17th - 19th Century). Members of rich European families would travel around Europe, taking in the sights and cultures of different countries. Italy was a very popular tourist spot as it had a long and prestigious history in arts and culture - a favorite subject in aristocratic circles. It was also a famous glass producer, and Italian craftsmen quickly turned their glass making skills to making stunning miniature micro mosaic pictures for their rich visitors. Flowers were a very popular subject. Each tiny glass tile was set into place using tweezers in this labor of love.
