    Description

    This is a rare opportunity to add an authentic Bedouin tent divider to your textile collection. This handwoven panel was made of wool with exceptional skill. It has a densely worked design with narrow bands of color and intricate patterns. It measures approximately 142 by 62 inches. It has extensive fading and general wear from use but is structurally very strong and sound. The wool fibers are supple, and this has been cleaned. It probably dates to the early 20th century when an early type of synthetic dye was used that had significant issues with fading when exposed to light. Examination shows a few places where the bands are intact but pulling apart and 3 places with some fraying, about 6" in each spot.(see pics), along with 3 little holes. Overall condition is really remarkable with fading as the only significant issue. It's interesting that the backside of the panel, not exposed to sunlight, still has vibrant colors. These panels rarely become available, as new ones are no longer made in the traditional way.
